Summer 2013 Sewing Schedule

Summer is nearly here and here is information about our Summer Sewing Schedule. These classes run on the same format as our regular sewing classes during the school year, with just a bit of a modification to the duration of the class time. We will meet twice a month for 2 two hour classes. This way we can get into our projects and then keep sewing and not cleanup so soon after setting up! The class fees are the same $40 per month. If you prefer to pay for the whole summer term then the fee total will be $120. I will offer one make up session for each of the July and August months, to accommodate those of you who may need to miss due to vacations. So here are the following dates.

Tues will have 2 different classes offered choose which time is best for you

Tues June 11th, and 18^th 10am to 12pm or 1pm to 3pm

Tues July 16^th, and 23^rd  10am to 12pm or 1pm to 3pm

Tues Aug 6^th and WED Aug 21 10am to 12pm or 1pm to 3pm

Thursday Class

Thurs June 13^th, and 20^th 1pm to 3pm

Thurs July 18^th and 25^th 1pm to 3pm

Thurs August 8 and 22^nd 1pm to 3pm

If you would like to sew this summer please email me and tell me which time slot you would like and I will put you in!

I am also planning to offer one summer camp class in each of the summer months. I am working on those projects and I will post those soon. Fridays will be the camp project days so be looking for those!

2011-2012 Sewing Year

Ladies!

As our regular year of sewing comes to a close I would like to take the opportunity to Thank You all for allowing me the chance to share the gift of sewing with your girls! I truly LOVE teaching all of your girls! I LOVE seeing them learn!

 

This week May 29th and May 31st and next week are the last regular sewing days. Next week is a very busy week for most of us. Some of your girls have finished all their projects and won't be continuing on for the summer classes. I will have sewing next Tuesday the 5th and we will move the Thursday sewing to Friday the 8th. Same times. However, if you are planning on not attending can you please shoot me an email so I can consolidate classes and fill up slots? If you have a makeup class you need to do, please let me know and I will fill in where I have openings!

So to recap....Sewing class Tues May 29th,Thurs May 31st, Tues June 5th, and Fri June 8th, same time same place.

 

Then onto Summer Sewing! My $40 classes run each month 2 two hour classes a month! The following dates are:

TUESDAY CLASSES  JUNE 12th and JUNE 26

                                 JULY  3rd  and JULY 17

                                 JULY  31 and AUGUST 14 

 

THURSDAY CLASSES WILL BE SEWING CAMPS!

THE FOLLOWING DATES WILL BE WHEN  I WILL HOLD MY CAMPS. THEY ARE A DIFFERENT FORMAT THAN THE REGULAR CLASSES. I WILL HAVE 4 SLOTS, THE GIRLS WILL COME AND EVERYONE WILL SEW THE SAME PROJECT AND LEAVE THAT DAY WITH IT ALL DONE!

THOSE DATES ARE:

JUNE 18TH, JUNE 25TH

JULY 6TH, JULY 19TH

AUGUST 2ND, AUGUST 16TH

The project description and pictures will come in the next week or so. First come first served. The camp classes will be a separate fee.

 

Now having said all this I want you all to know if my regular sewing classes fill up I will add another. Please email me right away and I will put you on my list. So excited for the summer!

Pocket Skirt

 This is our July Summer Camp!

Our fun pocket skirt has row and rows of elastic thread shirring.  So fun and easy to do!  And the pockets are so fun.  So join us for an afternoon of sewing and leave with a finished skirt!!!

This July Camp will be offered Friday July 6th and Thursday July 19th.  

Cost is $35.00

Each class will be from 1pm-4:30pm

(You only need to sign up for one of these times)

Supplies:

1 1/4 yard of fabric for the skirt

1/4 yard or a fat quarter for the pockets

1/4 yard for the pocket band

1 package of 3/8" elastic

Thread to match

Flag T-Shirt Camp

Come and join us for an fun camp Thursday June 21st from 1pm to 4pm.  We will be making adorable flag t-shirts that will make you the talk of your 4th of July picnic!!

The cost is $40 with all supplies included.  Space for the camp is limited to 4 spots.  Please email me a response with the size t-shirt you want.  Kiffyn, our model (isn't she cute?), is wearing a girls 14/16.

Flower Pin Cushion Kit

This is one of my favorite things to use! It was so fun to make! You can make your very own and use it here when you are at sewing class! If you have a friend, an aunt, or Nana who sews they will love it if you sewed one just for them!

Cost: $7.00
I will have a few different ones to choose from. (I don't have that exact fabric, I ran out of it!, but I will have some cute ones!)
If you really want to make it from your fabric, then bring 1/4 yard of 2 different fabrics, or 2 Fat Quarters will do. And a silk flower that matches!

This project usually can be completed in 3 classes.

Stretchy Vest

This is a Fast little number that dresses up anything, especially a otherwise boring T-shirt! You also Serge it all around the edges, and I know how you all love to Serge!

Supplies: 
1 yard of Stretchy Fabric (Make Sure it stretches both ways when you pull it on the bolt of Fabric)
Thread to Match.

This project usually can be completed in 2 classes.

Stretchy Dress

Supplies: 
3 yards of very Stretchy Fabric, it must stretch both ways when you go to buy it, try to pull it both directions on the bolt
1/2 yard of the contrast fabric, note the black on the waist and the black on the neckline
Thread to match

A good place to buy stretch fabric is Heddy's on Charleston between Jones and Decatur. It is a bit pricey but they have the best selection. Joann's and Hancock also has some to choose from.


This project usually can be completed in 5 to 6 classes.
